The Company
Our client is a 600+ Million USD global organisation specialising in the manufacture and sales of HMI components, automation & machinery Safety equipment used within production systems, machinery and factory floors, with aggressive expansion plans in the EMEA market.
The Role
As part of our overall expansion plans in EMEA an opportunity exists for a Business Development manager working within the local sales team.
The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for the development of sales of all products in the UK with a primary focus on Safety and Automation products, operating nationally.
Assessing the customer needs via direct customer contact, the Business Development Manager (BDM) will recommend, quote for and oversee the growth of the product portfolio within the UK.

A gifted individual with a strong technical background and a detailed knowledge of machine automation and safety, who has a flair for sales and a desire to develop long term business.
The Responsibilities
Carryout all duties and functions as set out in this list of responsibilities, below…
- Achieve or surpass targeted sales levels for the given products in the defined territory according to the sales plan and in association with his manager.
- Develop short- & long-term sales plans for the territory.
- Keep aware of and provide detail of competitor activity and provide adequate cost detail when requesting supported price applications.
- Provide effective contact with customers and colleagues.
- Frequent customer visits, in line with the sales strategy and action plan.
- Customer visits will include identification of the customers “pain points”, review of the possible solutions within the available product portfolio and present our proposals.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate is a technical salesperson, with a knowledge of automation, machinery and machine safety. They will have a background in electrical or automation engineering at degree level or industry equivalent. In addition, experience and understanding of the application of machine safety including the Machinery Directives, the associated Standards & Power Regulations
Any candidate should give consideration that the client are specialists in the Industrial Control, Factory Automation & Machine interface technology and subsequently their product portfolio includes PLC, HMI & associated control components (switches, joysticks, indicators) that sit closely alongside the increasing range of Machine & Process safety products. As such, being familiar with these products and their application would be useful.
Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in a similar role, however training will be given to the right candidate.
